A word from the staff:

Darling Atlantans,

If there is one thing, one cultural thing that Atlanta has in this world that no one can ever replicate or take away from us—one thing that wasn’t ironically stolen from some other, grander metropolis—it’s the right that we bestow upon ourselves to colloquially name our individual Kroger supermarkets.

Hipster Kroger, Disco Kroger—the ever infamous, never to live down its true name, Murder Kroger—and still the list goes on. For the specific names and locations, you can always check out this amazing Google Map where someone in this fair city actually took the time to create such glorious data points.

Now, from the ashes of an old concrete plant, like the proverbial phoenix of lore, comes another addition to the Kroger family. There is new opportunity—to shop, to meander, to make 2 a.m. runs for frozen pizza. Only one thing stands in the way of making this newly-forming Kroger an Atlanta staple: a name. We here at My Darling Atlanta understand the importance of such a moment in our city’s history and would like to take a moment to pause and ask you: what should the new Kroger be named?

So take a moment, ponder, contemplate, think of the surrounding area and nominate a nickname in the comments here or on Facebook. We will declare our winner in the weeks to come.
